About us

Christian Adventure Holidays [CAH] have been running activity holidays for young people for around 60 years. Since 1984 we have been based at the Bassenfell Manor Christian Centre in Bassenthwaite Cumbria.

We operate under the supervision of the Adventure Activities Licencing Authority [AALA] - the statutory regulatory body set up by the UK Government to ensure that activity holiday operators conform to the required safety standards.

During a holiday week with CAH young people can expect to take part in a variety of fun activities. We are a Christian organisation and as you might expect each day also features a time of corporate worship and teaching.

If you would like more information about the details of the licence CAH operate under please visit the AALA website.

A typical day on one of our holidays will be something like this.

  • Up early for Breakfast. The manor dining room seats around 70. There's plenty of jam and toast, cereal and a cooked breakfast to keep everyone going until lunch!
  • A "Thought for the day" slot.
  • Campers are then informed which activity their group will be doing.
  • Campers all attend an activity briefing and get the kit they need from our store.
  • Everyone then heads off to their activity in groups.
  • Late afternoon soon comes around and everyone returns to the manor where they can get showered and changed in time for tea.
  • After our evening meal everyone lends a hand cleaning up by doing assigned tasks in teams around the manor.
  • Time for a rest & some tuck!
  • A time of evening worship and bible teaching.
  • A nice mug of cocoa and a slice of cake for supper.
  • Bed.
